Ötme Bülbül

Ötme Bülbül

Ismi Sübhan virdin mi var?
Bahçelerde yurdun mu var?
Bencileyin derdin mi var?
Garip garip ötme bülbül

Ötme bülbül ötme bülbül
Derdi derde katma bülbül
Benim derdim bana yeter,
Bir de sen dert katma bülbül.

Bilirim âşıksın güle
Gülün hâlinden kim bile.
Bahçedeki gonca güle
Dolaşıp söz atma bülbül.

Ötme bülbül ötme bülbül
Derdi derde katma bülbül
Benim derdim bana yeter,
Bir de sen dert katma bülbül.

Bilirim âşıksın verde,
Cünûnun var gâyet serde.
Şu sînemde olan derde
Bir de sen dert katma bülbül.

Ötme bülbül ötme bülbül
Derdi derde katma bülbül
Benim derdim bana yeter,
Bir de sen dert katma bülbül.

Pervâz olup uçar mısın,
Deniz deryâ geçer misin?
Bencileyin nâ-çâr mısın?
Sen de hâlin söyle bülbül.

Ötme bülbül ötme bülbül
Derdi derde katma bülbül
Benim derdim bana yeter,
Bir de sen dert katma bülbül.

A bülbülüm uslu musun,
Kafeslerde besli misin?
Bencileyin yaslı mısın?
Garip garip ötme bülbül.

Ötme bülbül ötme bülbül
Derdi derde katma bülbül
Benim derdim bana yeter,
Bir de sen dert katma bülbül

YUNUS vücûdun pâk derken,
Cihanda mislin yok derken,
Seher vakti “Hakk Hakk” derken
Bizi de unutma bülbül.

Ötme bülbül ötme bülbül
Derdi derde katma bülbül
Benim derdim bana yeter,
Bir de sen dert katma bülbül

  1. Unfortunately, I lack the capacity to do any justice to this poem nor will it ever flow so beautifully, and meaningfully; but, here is my meager attempt at an English translation of the verses in the video (the words are a little different from the text):
    ~~~
    DON’T CHIRP NIGHTINGALE
    Do you do dhikr of the names and attributes of Allah?
    Do you have a place in the gardens?
    Do you have worries as I do?
    Don’t chirp so desperately, nightingale.
    Don’t chirp nightingale, don’t chirp nightingale.
    Don’t add to my suffering nightingale.
    My suffering is enough for me,
    Don’t add another worry to my suffering, nightingale.
    I know you’re in love with the rose
    Who can know about the rose.
    Don’t circle around,
    Calling to the rosebud in the garden, nightingale.
    Don’t chirp nightingale, don’t chirp nightingale.
    Don’t add to my suffering nightingale.
    My suffering is enough for me,
    Don’t add another worry to my suffering, nightingale.
    O my nightingale, are you well behaved?
    Are you well fed in your cage?
    Are you mourning as I am?
    Don’t chirp so desperately, nightingale.
    Don’t chirp nightingale, don’t chirp nightingale.
    Don’t add to my suffering nightingale.
    My suffering is enough for me,
    Don’t add another worry to my suffering, nightingale.
    Don’t chirp your troubles to me.
    If I tell you about my worries,
    Your worries will pale in comparison;
    You will pity me, nightingale.
    Don’t chirp nightingale, don’t chirp nightingale.
    Don’t add to my suffering nightingale.
    My suffering is enough for me,
    Don’t add another worry to my suffering, nightingale.
    When you say “Yunus, your existence is pure”
    When you say “there is no other like you in the universe,”
    When you say “Haq” during the early morning,
    Don’t forget about us too then, nightingale.
    Don’t chirp nightingale, don’t chirp nightingale.
    Don’t add to my suffering nightingale.
    My suffering is enough for me,
    Don’t add another worry to my suffering, nightingale.
