-اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ حُبَّكَ أَحَبَّ إِلَىَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي وَمِنَ الْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ
Allaahummaj-‘al hubbaka ahabba ilayya min nafsii wa ahlii wa minal-maa’il-baarid. (Abu ad-Darda. Sunan at-Tirmidhi #3412)
O Allah, make Your love dearer to me than myself, my family, and cold water.
Refreshing cold water on a hot summer day in the desert is one of the great comforts of this world. Our du’aa is that our love for Allah Ta’aala should be greater than our love for this comfort.
